About Spring Sprints
John F. Gaskin, head coach of FHC Crew from 2002 to 2009 started the Spring Sprints Ergatta in 2002. The race has grown into the largest indoor rowing competition for high school athletes held in West Michigan, and allows athletes to measure their progress over the winter conditioning season.


There are 9 events this year:
Novice Men - 1500M
Novice Women - 1500M
Coxswain Men - 500M
Lightweight Men - 2K
Coxswain Women - 500M
Lightweight Women - 2K
Open Men - 2K
Open Women - 2K
Coaches - 500M
This is the 23rd year of Spring Sprints, including a year with athletes competing in-person while spectators watched from home in 2021.

The event runs from 7:15 AM to about 1:15 PM:
7:15 AM - Doors Open
7:15 AM - 8:00 AM - Coaches Check-in
7:30 AM - 8:30 AM - Lightweight weigh-in
8:10 AM - Coaches and Race Director Meeting
8:45 AM - National Anthem
9:00 AM - Racing Begins
Est. 12:45 PM - 1:15 PM - Medal & trophy presentation​

Spectator admission fee is $5 per person or $20 per family. Spring Sprints 2025 Tshirts and concessions are available for sale.
